Who are we?

• Planted Roots Foundation was created by members of the Bonner County Community in 2013 by Sarah, Hailey, Shawna, and David Hines. The Hines family have lived in Sandpoint since the early 1970's when Larry and Derell McCormick moved to the Selle Valley. Shawna McCormick met local resident David Hines of Samuels in 1983, and they were married in 1984. Sarah was born in 1986 and has spent most of her life in Sandpoint, ID as well as raising her own children here. Larry and Derell McCormick are both interred at Pinecrest Cemetery after spending a long life together in the Sandpoint community.

• The goal of PRF (Planted Roots Foundation) was originally spreading kindness, providing affordable classes and activities for our youth, and creating fun volunteer opportunities. From there it grew to what it is today, fully dedicated to bringing a large, sustainable Recreational/Fitness center and Ice Rink to our community for everyone to enjoy.

• Firewood Rescue - Planted Roots Foundation is dedicated to the Firewood Rescue Project for veterans and families! This project was designed and executed for the sole purpose of providing free firewood to those in need. Learn more on our Firewood Project page. 

• Planted Roots Productions/Films with Purpose - Planted Roots Productions teams with PRF to create "Films with Purpose". A project dedicated to bringing films to the community and nation wide that effect positive change and caring for our fellow neighbors. 

• World Wide Mission Scholarship fund - in 2020 PRF created a program/platform for  scholarships for "Worldwide Missions". This program will fund raise and sponsor individuals who are willing and able to go on volunteer missions around the world to assist in things like disaster clean up, fence building, home/school building, cooking and teaching. Once it is up and running - this mission fund will be open to the public and will give scholarships to individuals of all ages to assist in travel costs for mission trips. Sarah Hines

Sarah was born in Sacramento, California in May 1986. Shortly after she was born she moved with her family to Sandpoint, Idaho where she was raised for most of her life. In High School Sarah was actively involved in Choir, Theater, Film/Acting School, 4H, Photography, Writing and pretty much anything that involved the out doors or volunteering. Sarah has always been very passionate about film; auditioning for her first television role at the age of 7. After many years of schooling, including some at SHS in Sandpoint, Sarah took a short break to become a single mother of two. In 2013 Sarah created a small volunteer group originally called "Spread the Virus" which later become Planted Roots Foundation. Sarah currently focuses on family, her children, writing and working on volunteer projects and films in her community and elsewhere. She is a talented writer and artist, and hopes to impacting her community in a positive way through her volunteer efforts and films.

Hailey Hines

​

Hailey was born and raised in Seattle, WA, and lived there for her early years. She later moved to Sandpoint with her family in time to attend Sandpoint Middle School and Sandpoint High School from which she graduated. Hailey has been actively involved in Dance and Theater since she was 6, and participated in many dance and theater productions with SHS and Growing Dreams Productions. Before graduation Hailey was already taking the writer/director seat and helping to form Planted Roots Productions with her sisters Sarah and Mackayla. After graduation Hailey immediately dove into more of her passions for acting, modeling and fashion.
